Kameron by Tom WestOne of the top small forward prospects out west in 2014, 6-foot-6 Kameron Chatman is making the move from Portland to Long Beach.

One of the top teams in California landed some help, as 6-foot-6, 175-pound 2014 small forward Kameron Chatman is transferring from Portland Jefferson to Long Beach Poly. Chatman, who already holds offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Arizona State, California, Stanford and Gonzaga, had a natural connection to Poly.

"Me and (Long Beach Poly head coach) Sharief Metoyer played college basketball together and are pretty much best friends," said Kameron's father, Canaan Chatman. "Obviously he does a good job on the basketball side but he's also good with academics and this pretty much gives Kam the opportunity to grow up. Me and my wife have some business opportunities in Los Angeles, but the weather doesn't hurt either."

Chatman adds his name to a loaded 2014 small forward class in the Los Angeles area that includes Shaqquan Aaron, Isaiah Bailey, Daniel Hamilton and Stanley Johnson. At Long Beach Poly, he'll join well known juniors Roschon Prince and Jordan Bell, giving the Jackrabbits one of the top trios out west.
