Poly's Roschon Prince lets his dominant play on the basketball court do his talking

One doesn't have to growl to be a beast on the basketball court. Roschon Prince says very little. A trash-talker, he is not. Prince, rather, is a breath of fresh air in that he just goes out and dominates - at times putting his Poly High team on his shoulders - with little in the way of celebration.
"Yeah, I would like him to be a little bit more vocal, but I don't think that's in his character," said Jackrabbits coach Sharrief Metoyer, whose second-seeded team plays at Knight of Palmdale (17-8) tonight at 7 in the second round of the CIF-SS Division I-AA playoffs.
"I think he's a lead-by-example guy and the results are proof of that.
"There are times when he's had to carry us offensively, or he's made some plays defensively and he's had to carry this group and I think that is the part that challenges him and motivates him."
Prince, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound junior forward, can shoot from the outside. But his scoring ability from short range and inside is what makes him such a dangerous player.
Metoyer mentioned how Prince has carried the team at times. He has been clutch for Poly, to be sure. Against Compton - the second-best team in the Moore League behind the Jackrabbits - he had 20 points and five rebounds in a six-point win Dec. 23. In a 10-point win over the Tarbabes on Jan. 27, Prince scored 33 points, making 21 of 26 shots from the free-throw line. He also had 13 rebounds.
